Behavior Counseling
We believe biblical principles are a practical compass for daily life, not just Sunday reflections. They invite us to slow down, examine our motives, and choose actions rooted in love, integrity, and responsibility. In a culture saturated with noise and rapid, impulse-driven choices, these timeless teachings offer a framework for kindness toward others, gratitude for small mercies, humility in success, and courage in accountability. They remind me that every choice—how one speaks to a coworker/ family member, how one rests, how one forgives—shapes the person you are becoming and the community you contribute to. Our aim is to translate wisdom into tangible habits: thoughtful questions that guide your day, acts of generosity that anchor your week, and a learning posture that welcomes grace and growth.
Alongside biblical principles, we integrate CBT and DBT techniques to support our clients through their mental and emotional challenges and regulation.
How CBT and DBT can help when mental and emotional chaos feels overwhelming:
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): This approach helps you see how thoughts, feelings, and actions influence one another. By identifying automatic or distorted thoughts and testing them against evidence, you can develop more balanced interpretations and healthier behaviors. Practical tools include thought records, cognitive restructuring, activity scheduling, and gradual behavioral experiments. The result is less spiraling anxiety or depression, clearer decision-making, and skills you can reuse in daily stress.
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): DBT adds an emphasis on balancing acceptance with change and focuses on building specific skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. Core components include:
Mindfulness: staying present with awareness and nonjudgment.
Distress Tolerance: strategies for enduring crises without making things worse (for example, grounding, urge surfing, and short-term relief techniques).
Emotion Regulation: recognizing emotions, reducing vulnerability, and using opposite-action or other adaptive responses.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: communicating needs and maintaining relationships with respect and boundaries. In practice, DBT helps reduce emotional reactivity, improve self-regulation, and foster healthier relationships even during intense times.
Rylee June is the founder and owner of Traditional Christian Counselling Services. After spending six years supporting clients online through a life coaching certificate, she returned to post-secondary education to receive a degree in Psychology with a minor in religious studies. Rylee became a born-again Christian in 2021 and has devoted and will continue to developing and create biblical counselling services for those seeking psychological help but rooted in biblical values. Our team is small but ever growing, both in our client roster and the health services we will continue to become educated in and introduce to our scope of practice available.
Our top six biblical principles we support our clients in developing and maintaining are:
Love God and Love Others
The greatest commandments are to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39).
Speak Truth and Live with Integrity
Honest speech and trustworthy actions build character and trust (Proverbs 12:22; Matthew 5:37).
Self-Control and Discipline
Discipline helps us resist unhealthy impulses and choose the better path (Galatians 5:22-23; Proverbs 25:28).
Humility and Servant Leadership
Consider others as more important and look for ways to serve (Philippians 2:3-4; John 13:12-15).
Stewardship and Generosity
Manage resources well and be generous with what you have (Luke 16:10-12; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
Wisdom and Discernment
Seek God’s guidance and exercise discernment in decisions (James 1:5; Proverbs 3:5-6).
