Purpose

Help the client calm immediate emotional intensity, make sense of scattered thoughts, and leave with a clear, manageable plan of next steps.

  • Externalize and map the chaos

    • Use a cognitive mapping tool (bullet list, mind map, or “brain dump” worksheet) to capture thoughts, emotions, and stressors visibly.
